Our neighbourhood is located in Toronto's West End;  St.Clair to College and Lansdowne to Bathurst. Our catchment area spans Toronto Wards 17, 18 and 19. For a map of our area, click here.

  • 43% of our neighbourhood’s population has less than high school education compared to 28% in Toronto as a whole. For seniors, the number is 85% compared to 63% in Toronto as a whole. Where youth are concerned, our neighbourhood is ranked #1 out of all 140 Toronto neighbourhoods for the percentage of youth not attending school.
  • Only16% of our neighbourhood’s population has a university degree compared to 25% in Toronto as a whole
  • 12% of our neighbourhood’s population has no knowledge of English or French, compared to just 5% in Toronto as a whole. For seniors, that number is 41% compared to just 15% in Toronto as a whole.
  • 56% of our neighbourhood’s population is comprised of immigrant people, compared to 49% in Toronto as a whole
  • 20% of hospital births to women in our neighbourhood are to teenagers, compared to 16% in Toronto as a whole
  • 20% of our neighbourhood population has diabetes, compared to 15% in Toronto as a whole
  • The percentage of our neighbourhood’s population with asthma, high blood pressure and heart disease is higher than in Toronto as a whole. Our community’s health is also affected by this fact; In terms of park land per capita, our neighbourhood is in the lowest grouping of 5 levels as defined by Toronto Community Health Profiles Partnership, which means there are fewer places for children, youth and adults to participate in outdoor recreation, environmental education and safe cardiovascular activity.
  • 21% of our neighbourhood’s population has a disability, compared to 16% in Toronto as a whole
  • 44% of housed seniors in our neighbourhood have limitations in the amount and kind of activities they are able to do because of physical heath or mental health challenges, compared to 34% in Toronto as a whole.
  • Youth make up15% of our neighbourhood’s population, compared to less than 7% of Toronto’s population as a whole. This is the 4th highest of all 140 Toronto neighbourhoods.
  • The proportionate number of youth living alone and/or living in low-income households in our neighbourhood is higher than most Toronto neighbourhoods (we are ranked 9th and 7th respectively out of 140 neighbourhoods)
  • Approximately 1 in 4 families and individuals in our neighbourhood are living in poverty
  • Approximately 1 in 4 neighbourhood families are headed by sole-support parents
  • 7-8.5% of our neighbourhood population is unemployed, compared to just over 6% in Toronto as a whole
