Drop In A Trip to Toronto Island

On 8th May 2009, 30 clients joined us on a trip to Toronto Island. The weather smiled on us as we played soccer, walked around the island and relaxed in the sun. For many of our newcomer clients this was their first visit, and one of our clients kindly offered us an essay about his experience. He permitted us to share this great piece of writing:

Story of a full enjoyment of Nature. This trip was organised by Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre.

Started at 10am. Participants received FREE tokens and a good free lunch. All together led by an excellent guide, Claire.

We followed her through the subway tunnels until reach Union Station. At last we crossed the street to the pier. There waiting for the visitors 3 ferries. There the sensation of freedom and joy was superb. A deep breath of fresh air...feeling the lake breeze....the sunshine (excellent)...oh God...all that forecasted an excellent day.

At 12.30pm we got on board the ferry. A wide boat, comfortable, clean, not overcrowded. Everyone enjoyed the gorgeous landscape, and the awesome skyline of Toronto city.

In 20 minutes we reached the island we got off the ferry and immediately the sensation of freedom in this natural park: a lot of trees, seagulls, ducks, ponds, canoes...etc...etc...

There you can play soccer (we played a lot), walk, rest, think...all in a peaceful, quiet, silent paradise so near from Toronto downtown. Wonderful experience.
