LOFT Service Canada Youth Skills Initiative
CONC has been blessed with the opportunity to offer our youth a job-development program called Youth Skills Initiative, funded generously by Service Canada HRDC.

Empowering youth through meaningful employment and training opportunities
Objective
To provide youth at risk between the ages of 15-29 with employability skills and other transferable skills through hands on training and work experience.
Project Activities
Participants participate in a 20 week program which will include Life Skills
and Employability Skills training and on the job training.

Employability Skills through Work Experience
The YSI Project participants will be employed full time (37.5 hours per week at minimum wage).
This includes 4 days of on the job training and one day mandatory workshops.
Participants will be given assistance to find and move on to full time employment by the end of the twenty week program.

YSI Program Coordinator and Job Developer Roy McCandlish
Mr McCandlish is responsible for coordinating workshops and training modules for the YSI participants. His dedication to the program has been instrumental in making this innovative program successful and fruitful for all involved.
