Here I help out in the kitchen, deligate task to the volunteers. That's it for now.The main reason why I'm doing this program is to gain work experience, and I think it has really worked well so far.  I've learned a lot, like how to deal with different types of people, and this is very good experience that I know that will help me in the future. Also, the workshops on Fridays are very helpful and the things that I've learned so far, I can take anywhere with me."

Michael Dineen is an event and fundraising specialist who works hand-in-hand with the Nook to plan strategies and design events for various programs and/or special field trips for the Nook kids.  His last event (a short film festival featuring a selection of movies from the National Film Board of Canada) was a huge success, and Michael is already in the process of planning a future community potluck, a chili cook-off & comedy night, and a 'Youth Dance Event' fundraiser that brings together art, activism, music and dance within the Urban Playground movement. All of his efforts are in the hopes to raise the average fundraising income percentage by over 9000.

"The YSI (Youth Skills Initiative) program has allowed me to work a regular 9-5, while still expanding my horizons. With the various employment workshops we have once a week, I've been able to narrow down what I'm looking for with regards to employment, and taught me how to go about getting the most out of whatever career path I choose for the future."
