The Nook Placement/Internship Opportunities

THE NOOK CHILDREN’S AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM 2012

CALL FOR CO-OP STUDENTS

 

The NOOK is a non-profit arts, literacy and sports program

for children in the Christie Ossington Community.

We offer homework help, snack and diverse creative programming

in a safe, nurturing environment for local struggling families.

 

 

We are interested in Co-op students engaged in areas of study that involve children, families, social work, community development, the arts, literacy, sports and recreation.  The following list contains examples of projects students may complete to earn co-op hours:

 

  • One-on-one tutoring
  • Organization and implementation of the NOOK Peer Volunteer Program
  • Organization and implementation of a fundraising initiative
  • Organization and implementation of arts and literacy activities
  • Organization and implementation of sports and recreation activities
  • Research pertaining to the NOOK community
  • Research pertaining to the NOOK program
  • Organization and implementation of a performance event
  • Research and collection of in-kind donations
  • Organization of visiting artists or other special guests
  • Beautifying of NOOK indoor and outdoor spaces

 

There are an infinite number of possibilities for enthusiastic individuals willing to dedicate their time and skills to a wonderful, deserving community!

 

Co-op students must be willing to obtain a Criminal Reference Check before beginning a placement at the NOOK.

 

All applicants will be interviewed and involved with NOOK supervisors in the creation of their chosen placement opportunity.
