Eyes of the Youth at LOFT Kitchen

I’ve completed a twelve-week placement here at LOFT Kitchen/CONC through a youth employment program I did back in the summer. I’ve done tasks such as helping to prepare meals in the kitchen at the beginning of placement, to doing administrative tasks, such as coming up with topics for LOFT’s social media pages, researching grants for possible funding of the kitchen, and much more. It was a great experience as well to add to my resume, plus I’ve made a couple friends, too.

Working here would be beneficial to whoever is interested because it’s for a good cause, being a non-profit organization (LOFT Kitchen) and the other programs they support, like their Children’s program; ‘The Nook’. I’ve personally enjoyed preparing meals in the kitchen, plus making sandwiches and desserts, as well, as getting a chance to taste them afterwards too. Working on the computer has also been great because that’s my usual strong suit, my post-secondary education will involve working with and learning more about technology. Working at LOFT Kitchen/CONC has made me develop more independence and provided guidance for which direction I’d like to head in the near future with the help of its employees.
